Love for the TV

She loves to go behind the tv, no matter how many boxes and elephant statues we place to block her. She finds a way, and where there is a will there is a way...she is very willing to accomplish her task of getting behind the tv no matter how many bumps and scratches she gets. It's nice to see that she won't give up until she gets to her destination (behind the massive flat screen tv at my parents place) but on the other hand it's a bit annoying when she resets the tv, etc.

Praying Mantis

We have recently relocated to the country from the city. It's an adjustment and a sacrifice we have made so we can have our dear Veda grow up with our family. To learn her culture, language, morals, values, etc. To be with her 2 great-grandmothers, grand-parents, aunts and uncles, 18 first-cousins and dogs! They say it takes a community to raise a child, and yes it sure does!

Today, hubby and I pulled up at a gas station in west-bubble fudge, country-town. As hubby pumped I look to the left and see a Praying Manti sitting on top of the garbage bin. On the other side, was a family van with 2 young boys (between ages 8-11). The mother tells them, "look boys, that's a paraying mantis". The boys scoot over the window to get a closer look, "that thing is huge! is that a grasshopper?". The mom replies, "no boys that is a Praying Mantis". The boys respond by saying, "Can we shoot it mom".
I was shocked to hear that. Another item to add to my worry list. Pre-plan Veda's education, school location, etc.

Hungry at Events

No one told you that you will be alone and hungry at weddings, birthday parties, etc. Unless you have your mother, father, sister, husband to scold, yep you're flying solo with your baby. Example: You rush to get yourself ready and your baby to attend an event, in the meantime you had no time to eat (don't want to mess up that makeup!) Your goal is to make a flawless, grand entrance; in mommy terms that means: walk-in with no food on the babies face or clothes or yours, and looking glam like it's effortless. Fast forward to munch time, yes we all attend events for the food and you are starving. Your homies from back in the day are there too and the only difference is they are still single with no kids. Your homies, yes the ones you would party and get drunk with, yep yep, they stood in the buffet line and have their plates, and have gotten their munch on. Oh wait, who's that sitting in the corner with a crying toddler. THAT'S YOU, I mean me, poor little me. Bottom line, don't expect everyone to get it, unless they have what you have they won't get it. So have empathy and lots of protein bars stashed in your diaper bag.

No More Dummy! A.K.A. Pacifier

This is the last day of no-pacifier-boot-camp for us. Thanks to my parents, family and GOD for helping us cope with sleepless nights. Non-stop crying for the first 2 days, wasn't as bad as I thought. She was good on the 3rd day without it, (keeping in mind she was at my parents to recover from her loss, while I did the night-shift duty with my mother). The fourth day, she came home and memories of her dummy (mummya is what she calls it) we call it the dummy-British for pacifier. She whined and did the fake cry in between Nick Jr. She cried for my attention, pointing to the bookshelf. I look up and wonder what is it that she wants now? So I pick her up and ask her to show me, she points to the picture I have of her suckin on the you know what...DUMMY! It's such a tiny picture, how the hec did she even notice that! What can I say she is very detailed oriented from the start!

Beach Day

First time she frolicked on the beach, didn't have a camera...but it was priceless to watch her go into the water, fearless of what's in there. The sand, ocean, and her. She LOVED IT, she loves the ocean. If life, people, the world was as simple as that moment. Her words: "mama" and father is "Cookie".

Time

After Veda, time flies! So much to do and not enough hours in the day. Read, teach, feed, sing, try to potty train, try to ween her off pacifier (which I'm blinging out as we speak for wedding event! After seeing a baby with blinged out pacifier-I'm DIY myself! Looks great for pics!) Then take time to eat, bathe, catch up, bills, husband, cook, oh gosh.....She is at the point where she copies EVERYTHING! I'm trying to read to her and install healthy habits. She loves the park but not other kids, she is in her own world, loves keys and opeing door locks with them. She even knows which is the key to the front door! She goes up and down the stairs on her own, loves Didi and her grandparents, calls her dad COOKIE! She is lazy when it comes to feeding herself, unless she is super hungry she opens the cupboards and feasts on whatever snacks she finds. She is very flexible and does yoga (perfect candidate for gymnastics!) I hope one day when we still have internet she finds this blog dedicated to her. She loves to push the laptop buttons-click click click.

I love you Veda-you are my heart, my everything. I will work hard to make sure you don't have to-well you will but you will not struggle.

Happy 4th!

There's nothing more beautiful than watching them grow....
